To allow network instances that are created in different regions to communicate with
each other, you must purchase a bandwidth plan and set the bandwidth for cross-region
communication.
Prerequisites
The network instances that need to communicate with each other are attached to the
same Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) instance. For more information, see
Step 3: Attach network instances.
Background information
To allow network instances that are created in the same region to communicate with
each other, no bandwidth plan is required, and you are not charged for the communications.
You must purchase a bandwidth plan only when you want to connect network instances
that are created in different regions. You must specify the areas to connect when
you purchase a bandwidth plan. Each area contains one or more regions. After you purchase
a bandwidth plan, you must set the bandwidth for cross-region communication.
Purchase a bandwidth plan
To purchase a bandwidth plan, perform the following operations:
- Log on to the CEN console.
- On the Instances page of the CEN console, click the ID of the CEN instance that you created.
- On the CEN page, click Bandwidth Plans.
- Click Purchase Bandwidth Plan(Subscription).
- CEN ID: Select the CEN instance with which you want to associate the bandwidth plan.
- Specify the areas to be connected.
An area is a collection of regions. Each area contains one or more Alibaba cloud regions.
After you purchase a bandwidth plan, you can set the bandwidth for cross-region communication.
This allows network instances that are deployed in different areas to communicate
with each other.
Notice After a bandwidth plan is purchased, you cannot modify the areas to be connected.

Set the bandwidth for cross-region communication
After you purchase a bandwidth plan, you can perform the following operations to set
the bandwidth for cross-region communication:
- Log on to the CEN console.
- On the Instances page, click the ID of the CEN instance with which you associate the newly created
bandwidth plan.
- On the CEN details page, click Region Connections, and click Set Region Connection.
- Bandwidth Plans: Select the bandwidth plan that you purchased.
- Connected Regions: Select the regions to connect.
- Bandwidth: Set the bandwidth for cross-region communication.
Note By default, the bandwidth is set to 1 Kbit/s for cross-region communication. The default
value is used for connectivity testing only. You can specify a value based on your
business requirements. The sum of all bandwidth values set for cross-region communication
cannot exceed the maximum bandwidth of the bandwidth plan.
- Click OK.
