Elastic Compute Service:Modify an automatic snapshot policy

Last Updated:Mar 12, 2024

You can modify the settings and tags of an automatic snapshot policy and enable or disable Delete Automatic Snapshots While Releasing Disk for the disks that are associated with the policy based on your business requirements. After an automatic snapshot policy is modified, the modifications immediately take effect on the disks that are associated with the policy.

Modify the settings of an automatic snapshot policy

You can modify the settings of an automatic snapshot policy based on your business requirements, such as the policy name, times of the day at which to create automatic snapshots, days of the week on which to create automatic snapshots, retention period of automatic snapshots, and retention period of snapshot copies.

  1. Log on to the ECS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Storage & Snapshots > Snapshots.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select the region and resource group to which the resource belongs. 地域

  4. On the Snapshots page, click the Automatic Snapshot Policies tab.

  5. On the Automatic Snapshot Policies tab, find the automatic snapshot policy that you want to modify and click Modify Policy in the Actions column.

  6. In the Modify Policy dialog box, modify the settings of the policy.

    • Retention Period: The retention period of automatic snapshots. After you change the retention period, only automatic snapshots that are created after the change are retained for the new retention period. Automatic snapshots that were created before the change are still retained for the original retention period. For example, if you change the retention period from 20 days to 10 days, automatic snapshots that are created after the change are retained for 10 days and automatic snapshots that were created before the change are still retained for 20 days.

    • Retention Period of Snapshot Copies: The retention period of snapshot copies in the destination region. After you change the retention period, only snapshot copies that are created after the change are retained for the new retention period. Snapshot copies that were created before the change are still retained for the original retention period.

    • For information about other parameters in the Modify Policy dialog box, see Create an automatic snapshot policy.

  7. Click OK.

Modify the tags of an automatic snapshot policy

Tags can be used to identify resources with the same characteristics (such as automatic snapshot policies that belong to the same organization or that serve the same purpose) for easy search and management. This section describes how to modify the tags of an automatic snapshot policy.

  1. Log on to the ECS console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Storage & Snapshots > Snapshots.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select the region and resource group to which the resource belongs. 地域

  4. Click the Automatic Snapshot Policies tab, find the automatic snapshot policy that you want to manage and modify tags for the policy.

    • If no tags are added to the policy, move the pointer over the 标签 icon in the Tag column corresponding to the policy and then click Edit.

    • If tags are added to the policy, move the pointer over the 标签 icon in the Tag column corresponding to the policy and then click Edit.

  5. In the Configure Tags dialog box, select or create tags and then click OK.
