Container Service for Kubernetes:Upgrade the configurations of a master node

Last Updated:Dec 21, 2023

This topic describes how to upgrade the configurations of a master node. You need to manage the master nodes in a Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) dedicated cluster. When the cluster size grows, you may need to upgrade the configurations of master nodes to meet business requirements.

Prerequisites

Create an ACK dedicated cluster

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ACK console. In the left-side navigation pane, click Clusters.

  2. On the Clusters page, click the name of the cluster that you want to manage and choose Nodes > Nodes in the left-side navigation pane.

  3. Find the three master nodes of the cluster and click the instance ID of a master node. In this example, master-01 is selected. On the Instance Details page, you can view instance information about the master node, such as the instance type.

  4. On the Instance Details tab, click Change Instance Type.4.jpg

If Change Instance Type is dimmed, the instance is running. Click Stop in the upper part of the page to stop the instance. Then, proceed to the next step.

  5. In the Change Instance Type dialog box, select an instance type and click Stop Instance and Continue. For more information, see Choose ECS specifications to create master nodes.

  6. In the Stop Instance dialog box, configure Stopped By and Stop Mode, and then click OK.

  7. In the Change Instance Type dialog box, the Specifications Changed message appears. Then, click Start Instances and Return.

  8. In the Start Instance message, confirm the information and click OK.

On the Instance Details tab, the instance status changes to Running. You can view the new instance type in the lower part of the Basic Information section.

  9. Repeat the preceding steps to upgrade the configurations of the remaining master nodes.

    Note

This example describes only the procedure for upgrading pay-as-you-go master nodes. For more information, see Overview of instance configuration changes.
