Service specification upgrade

Last Updated: May 09, 2020

Currently, DMS Enterprise offers a variety of service specifications that vary in the numbers of supported users and database instances. You can purchase an appropriate specification on demand based on your initial business scale. If the specification you purchased cannot catch up with the growth of your business and the numbers of users and database instances, you can purchase an upgraded specification.

This topic describes how to quickly and effectively upgrade the service specification.

Upgrade management

Upgrade the specification by the DBA

  1. Determine the target specification that you want to upgrade to from the various specifications of DMS Enterprise. For more information, see DMS specifications.

  2. Log on to the DMS Enterprise console at https://dms.aliyun.com/. Choose System Management > Instance Management.

  3. Upgrade to the target specification. Note: In DMS Enterprise, the DBA role that performs the upgrade must be the Alibaba Cloud account used to activate DMS Enterprise or a RAM user account under the Alibaba Cloud account. RAM-deactivated Alibaba Cloud accounts cannot be used to upgrade the specification.

  4. Check the upgrade result.

Upgrade the specification by the administrator

The administrator can upgrade the specification through the Instance Management menu in the same way as the DBA.

The administrator can also choose System Management > User Management to upgrade the specification.

Other upgrade operations and pages to which the administrator has access are the same as those of the DBA.

Considerations

  • The DBA or administrator role that performs the upgrade must be the Alibaba Cloud account used to activate DMS Enterprise or a RAM user account granted the AliyunBSSOrderAccess permission. You cannot use other Alibaba Cloud accounts to perform the upgrade.
