Elastic Compute Service:Modify an auto provisioning group

Last Updated:Nov 18, 2025

You can modify settings of an auto provisioning group, such as its name, target capacity, and capacity configuration, to better meet your business needs and improve system flexibility and scalability. For example, you can specify whether to shut down instances in the group when its real-time capacity exceeds the target capacity.

Procedure

  1. Go to ECS console - Auto Provisioning.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region and resource group of the resource that you want to manage. 地域

  3. On the Auto Provisioning list page, find the auto provisioning group that you want to modify and click Modify in the Action column.

The following table describes the settings that you can modify.

    Category

    Description

    Basic Information

You can modify the name of the auto provisioning group.

    Group Capacity

You can modify the following capacity settings:

    • Target Capacity: The computing power that the auto provisioning group is scheduled to provision. You can specify this capacity in terms of number of instances or number of vCPUs. After you select Use Pay-as-you-go Instances to Provide Computing Power, you can specify the computing power to be provided by pay-as-you-go instances.

    • Target Capacity of Pay-as-you-go Instances: The target capacity of pay-as-you-go instances that the auto provisioning group is scheduled to provision, in number of instances or vCPUs. Because spot instances can be reclaimed, you can use pay-as-you-go instances to ensure that your minimum computing power requirements are met.

    Note

If you call the CreateAutoProvisioningGroup API operation to create an auto provisioning group, you can specify the target capacity in terms of instances, vCPUs, or memory size.

    Capacity Settings

You can modify the following capacity-related settings:

    • Default Billing Method of Supplemental Instances: You can select Spot Instance or Pay-As-You-Go Instance. If the sum of the target capacity for spot instances and the target capacity for pay-as-you-go instances is less than the total target capacity, the auto provisioning group creates instances of the specified default type to meet the total target capacity.

    • Global Maximum Price for Spot Instances: You can modify the maximum price. If the market price for spot instances exceeds your specified maximum price, the instances are not created. This helps you stay within your budget.

    • Whether to Terminate Instances in the Capacity Group Upon Expiration: This setting determines what happens to instances in the auto provisioning group after it expires. If you enable this option, the instances are released. If you disable this option, the instances are removed from the group but are not released.

    • Whether to Terminate Instances in the Capacity Group When Exceeding Capacity: This setting determines what happens to scaled-in instances when the real-time capacity of the auto provisioning group exceeds the target capacity and a scale-in is triggered. If you enable this option, the scaled-in instances are released. If you disable this option, the instances are removed from the group but are not released.

    Note

Regardless of whether the auto provisioning group is a request or maintain type, modifying the capacity or capacity-related settings triggers a scheduling task.

  4. Click OK.
