What can I do with the Data Transport service?
Assume that you must migrate terabytes or petabytes of data to Alibaba Cloud. However, with the considerations of low-bandwidth and high expansion costs, a Data Transport device is the most cost-effective option to migrate data to the cloud.
Can I migrate data from the cloud to a local data center?
Yes, you can migrate data from OSS to a local center by submitting a ticket to Alibaba Cloud Technical Support.
How much data can be transported using the Data Transport service?
You can migrate as much data as you need. We have successfully migrated tens of petabytes of data for several customers. You can select multiple specifications of devices in combination to migrate more data at a time.
How long does it take to migrate data using a Data Transport device?
When a migration job is running, two data ports are used, each with a maximum bandwidth of 10 Gbit/s. The total bandwidth can support a maximum migration speed of 20 Gbit/s. However, the actual migration speed changes based on the throughput of data sources, the bandwidth of switches, the number of files, and the total size of files.
What data sources are supported?
Supported original data sources include local files, local shared NAS, Wos, FastDFS, and HDFS.
Supported destination data sources include Alibaba Cloud OSS and Alibaba Cloud NAS.
Is data encrypted during migration?
Yes, AES-256 encryption is used to protect data when you migrate data by using the Data Transport service. Keep the encryption key secret.
Is data compression used during migration?
Yes, the Data Transport service supports data compression. The actual compression ratio changes based on data to be migrated. A maximum compression ratio can reach 40:1.
How can I restart or turn off a Data Transport device?
Data Transport I: Log on to the device console. In the upper-right corner of the page, click the username, and select Restart or Shutdown on the drop-down list.
