This topic describes how the scalability feature of DRDS works.

Concurrency and storage capacity scalability

The essence of scalability lies in partitioning. DRDS computing resources distribute data to multiple ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instances by using horizontal partitioning (database sharding and table sharding) and vertical partitioning. In this way, read/write requests are concurrent and storage capacity gets distributed.

Horizontal partitioning (database sharding and table sharding)

You can use specified computing or routing rules to distribute data to multiple ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL instances. DRDS has many algorithms to deal with various scenarios.
