Elastic IP Address:Manage EIP quotas

Last Updated:Dec 13, 2023

Alibaba Cloud allows you to view and manage quotas of your Alibaba Cloud services. You can obtain usage information, request a quota increase, and set alarm rules for quotas. This topic describes how to increase quotas and create quota templates for Elastic IP Address (EIP).

Background information

Quota Center allows you to manage the quotas of various Alibaba Cloud services in a centralized manner. Quota Center is integrated with multiple Alibaba Cloud services, including EIP. If you are using multiple Alibaba Cloud services and want to manage the quotas of all your cloud services in one console, you can use Quota Center.

In addition to Quota Center, EIP also provides a Quota Management page in the Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) console. If you need to manage only EIP quotas, you can manage quotas on the Quota Management page in the VPC console.

Limits

By default, only Alibaba Cloud accounts are authorized to manage quotas in Quota Center. If you want to allow a RAM user to manage quotas, you must first grant the RAM user the AliyunQuotasFullAccess permission. For more information, see Authorize a RAM user.

View quotas

You can use one of the following methods to view EIP quotas:

  • Go to the Quotas page to view all quotas and default limits.

  • Log on to the Quota Center console, select a quota type, such as general quotas or API rate limits, and select a service as prompted. Then, set the query conditions to query quotas and quota usage.

  • Log on to the VPC console, and set the query conditions on the Quota Management page to query quotas and quota usage.

Create an alarm rule for a quota

EIP allows you to create threshold-based alarm rules for some quotas. You can specify thresholds for quota usage or the remaining amount. When the quota usage or the remaining amount reaches the threshold, the system sends an alarm notification to the callback URL set in the alarm rule through an HTTP POST request. After you receive the notification, you can request a quota increase in advance to avoid unexpected business interruptions.

EIP allows you to create alarm rules for the eip_quota_instances_num quota. This quota specifies the number of EIPs that each Alibaba Cloud account can have.

Create an alarm rule for a quota in the Quota Center console

  1. Log on to the Quota Center console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Quota Alerts.

  3. On the Quota Alerts page, click Create Quota Alert Rule.

  4. On the Products with General Quotas page, choose Networking > Elastic IP Address, find the quota, and click Create Alarm Rule in the Actions column.
