E-MapReduce (EMR) allows you to modify or add parameters for components such as HDFS, YARN, and Spark.

Modify parameters

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud EMR console.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your cluster resides and select a resource group based on your business requirements.
  3. Click the Cluster Management tab.
  4. On the Cluster Management page, find your cluster and click Details in the Actions column.
  5. Go to the Configure tab.
    1. Click the component for which you want to modify parameters.
      For example, in the left-side navigation pane, choose Cluster Service > HDFS.
    2. On the HDFS page, click the Configure tab.

  6. Modify parameters.
    1. In the Configuration Filter section, enter the keyword of the parameter that you want to modify in the search box, and click the Search icon icon.
    2. Find the parameter you want to modify and change its value.
  7. Click Save in the upper-right corner.
    If you want to synchronize the modification to the gateway cluster that is associated with the current cluster, select the gateway cluster and click OK in the Confirm Changes dialog box. If you do not want to synchronize the modification to the gateway cluster, directly click OK.

    Perform the operations described in Make the configurations take effect to make the modification take effect.

Add parameters

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud EMR console.
  2. Click the Cluster Management tab.
  3. On the Cluster Management page, find your cluster and click Details in the Actions column.
  4. Go to the Configure tab.
    1. Click the component for which you want to add parameters.
      For example, in the left-side navigation pane, choose Cluster Service > HDFS.
    2. On the HDFS page, click the Configure tab.

  5. Add parameters.
    1. In the Service Configuration section, click the tab where you want to add parameters.
    2. Click Custom Configuration in the upper-right corner. In the Add Configuration Item dialog box, configure the parameters you want to add.Custom Configuration

      Key The name of the parameter that you want to add.
      Value The value of the parameter.
      Description The description of the parameter.
      Actions You can click Delete in this column to delete the parameter.
    3. Click OK.
  6. Click Save in the upper-right corner.
    If you want to synchronize the added parameters to the gateway cluster that is associated with the current cluster, select the gateway cluster and click OK in the Confirm Changes dialog box. If you do not want to synchronize the parameters to the gateway cluster, directly click OK.

    Perform the operations described in Make the configurations take effect to make the added parameters take effect.

  • Client-side configurations
    1. After you modify or add client-side configurations, click Deploy Client Configuration in the upper-right corner of the Configure tab.
    2. In the Cluster Activities dialog box, specify Target Nodes, Actions on Failures, and Description.
    3. Click OK.

      You can click History in the upper-right corner to view the execution status and progress.

  • Server-side configurations
    1. After you modify or add server-side configurations, click Actions in the upper-right corner of the HDFS page and select an option to restart the related service.
    2. Click Deploy Client Configuration in the upper-right corner.
    3. In the Cluster Activities dialog box, specify Target Nodes, Actions on Failures, and Description.
    4. Click OK.

      You can click History in the upper-right corner to view the execution status and progress.
