E-MapReduce (EMR) allows you to modify and add parameters for services such as HDFS, YARN, and Spark. This topic describes how to modify and add the parameters.

Prerequisites

An EMR cluster is created. For more information, see Create a cluster.

Modify parameters

  1. Go to the Cluster Overview page of your cluster.
    1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud EMR console.
    2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your cluster resides and select a resource group based on your business requirements.
    3. Click the Cluster Management tab.
    4. On the Cluster Management page, find your cluster and click Details in the Actions column.
  2. Go to the Configure tab.
    1. Click the service for which you want to modify parameters.
      For example, in the left-side navigation pane, choose Cluster Service > HDFS.
    2. On the HDFS service page, click the Configure tab.

  3. Modify parameters.
    1. In the Configuration Filter section, enter the keyword of the parameter you want to modify in the search box and click the Search icon.
    2. Find the parameter you want to modify and change its value.
  4. Save the configurations.
    1. In the upper-right corner of the Service Configuration section, click Save.
    2. In the Confirm Changes dialog box, specify Description and turn on Auto-update Configuration.
    3. Click OK.
  5. Make the configurations take effect.

    Perform the following operations based on the type of configurations you added to make the configurations take effect:

    • Client-side configurations
      1. After you add client-side configurations, click Deploy Client Configuration in the upper-right corner of the Configure tab.
      2. In the Cluster Activities dialog box, specify Target Nodes, Actions on Failures, and Description.
      3. Click OK.

        You can click History in the upper-right corner to view the execution status and progress.

    • Server-side configurations
      1. After you add server-side configurations, click Actions in the upper-right corner of the HDFS page and select an option to restart the related service.
      2. In the upper-right corner of the Service Configuration section, click Deploy Client Configuration.
      3. In the Cluster Activities dialog box, specify Target Nodes, Actions on Failures, and Description.
      4. Click OK.

        You can click History in the upper-right corner to view the execution status and progress.

Add parameters

  1. Go to the Cluster Overview page of your cluster.
    1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud EMR console.

    3. Click the Cluster Management tab.
    4. On the Cluster Management page, find your cluster and click Details in the Actions column.
  2. Go to the Configure tab.
    1. Click the service to which you want to add parameters.
      For example, in the left-side navigation pane, choose Cluster Service > HDFS.
    2. On the HDFS service page, click the Configure tab.

  3. Add parameters.
    1. In the Service Configuration section, click the tab where you want to add parameters.
    2. Click Custom Configuration in the upper-right corner. In the Add Configuration Item dialog box, configure the parameters you want to add.

      Parameter Description
      Key The name of the parameter that you want to add.
      Value The value of the parameter.
      Description The description of the parameter.
      Actions You can click Delete in this column to remove the parameter.
    3. Click OK.
  4. Save the configurations.
    1. In the upper-right corner of the Service Configuration section, click Save.
    2. In the Confirm Changes dialog box, specify Description and turn on Auto-update Configuration.
    3. Click OK.
  5. Make the configurations take effect.
