Time zipped by and the year 2016 has drawn to a close. It is necessary for us to summarize and reflect upon the events in 2016 for better growth in 2017.

Topic 1: Let’s look back at the impressive major events in the webmaster circle over the year. They can include the release of some much-applauded technology or tool, or some crazy event.
Topic 2: What technical gains have you had in 2016? Let’s recall some positivity to warm each other in this cold winter.
Start from me: (Of course, you can also add your comments. I will make it concise here)
Events:
1. Let's Encrypt and Alibaba Cloud among other manufactures started to provide free certificates, which has greatly boosted internet development towards the encryption age. Encrypted web pages help to eliminate visitor information leakage and make the internet a safer place.
2. Apple required support of IPv6-only networking and HTTPS for all iOS apps, which also drove the technology's popularity. IPv6, which has been proposed and applied for a long time, now enjoys more widespread application. In addition, HTTPS will be extensively applied and there will be no "data usage monitoring" by carriers on mobile phones.
Gains:
Over the past year, I have learned, systematically, some common compiling and designing methods of Linux and Win architecture and have accumulated many operational experiences. In addition, my blog website finally achieved an Alexa ranking.
What technical gains or impressive events have you had in 2016? Come and share them!

I threw myself into the IT field last year and learned some theoretical knowledge about Java, but I have little practical experience.
2016 can be said as Year 1 of my IT career. Through constant studies, I acquired profound understanding in Java-targeting objects and improved my Java basics a lot, for example multi-threading, singleton pattern, and framework principles. Speaking of deficiencies this year, it would be the lack of projects for practical experience. The year 2016 is about to end. I will make a plan for the next year to practice more through various types of projects, and learn PG SQL, and Spark.
Apart from improvements in Java basics, I also got acquainted with many Alibaba technical experts in our Yunqi Community. They are my role models. Keep it up!

Two most impressive events in 2016 for me:
AlphaGo beat Lee Sedol at the beginning of the year, which should be a milestone in the history of AI. It is only 20 years after Deep Blue’s victory over Garry Kasparov, an international chess grandmaster. What will happen in the next 20 years?
Tmall supported 120.7 billion yuan of transactions during the Double 11 shopping carnival at the end of the year, backed by the scary-good concurrency computing capability and traffic distribution capability. This is only seven years away from the birth of Alibaba Cloud. What will happen in the next seven years?
In one sentence, whatever you're imagining will always come to pass. Think about the novels by Jules Verne, the sci-tech products in the film Lost In Space...

I became a senior in 2016. I found an internship in a company in Beijing and started my coding career.
In 2016, network disk services of various companies started to retreat from the market, which made me realize that local storage is the safest for important data.
In 2016, a batch of websites, represented by WooYun, specializing in network security, were forced to shut down. Network security was pushed to the teeth of the storm.
In 2016, Google Developers launched its Chinese version and domestic users can access it directly - to the satisfaction of everyone.
In 2016, the Double 11 shopping carnival again impressed the nation with success. Its high-currency processing became the top hard nut to crack.
In 2016, various clouds started to surge and various AI applications were improved. The intelligent age is drawing nearer and nearer.

I first purchased a server from Alibaba Cloud to establish my own website. I used Java, SSM, Maven and Jenkins. I am a Java developer who just graduated this year and am still learning Java knowledge.

Events:
1. PW and DA, big boys in domestic forum source code, stopped development - so exasperating. PHP7 compatibility seemed optimized at the end of the year, but its support of HTTPS remained unknown. You know the year 2017 is the year of HTTPS. All websites should advance towards HTTPS.
2. Various domestic manufacturers joined the going-open-source wave and applications like AliSQL kept emerging - this is really really nice.
3. I can make money with my skills. The impoverished student of the past can now support the family!
Gains:
1. I met several bigwigs and many friends on the internet. Wonderful for me. My H5 skills have been quite good.
2. I used to scoff at Windows server, but now I am proficient in it. It is truly amazing!
