Web hosting and third party email service

Hi everybody,



Sorry for my bad english, it is not my native language.


I have an Alibaba  Cloud web hosting with a bound third party domain name.


I would like to use Alibaba Direct Mail to be able to receive emails at an address xxx@my-domain-name.cn.


So I need to add MX and TXT records in AlibabaCloud DNS.


BUT I already have CNAME records to access my website with my domain name.


If I have understood correctly, it's not possible to have MX records with CNAME records (I get an error message when I try it).


So I should have an A record, but I can't have the IP address of Alibaba Cloud servers (so I chose the CNAME records).


I have absolutely no idea how I could receive emails from my clients with a third party domain name and using Alibaba Direct Mail.

Hi Gwen, your english is fine! Did you try to follow the instructions in https://www.alibabacloud.com/help/faq-detail/39397.htm?


There you have 1 MX, 2 TXT and 1 CNAME. Should be fine to add that records to send emails.


Which provider are you using for the domain?

Direct Mail is an Alibaba service for sending emails. Direct Mail does not support email server functionality such as receiving email.

If you are inside China take a look at another Alibaba email service: https://wanwang.aliyun.com/mail/

If you are outside China, then review the typical services such as Microsoft Office 365, Google GSuite, etc.
