Creating Virtual Instance in Alibaba ECS ECS Concepts: Instance: An ECS Instance is a virtual computing environment, including CPU, memory, and other fundamental computing components. Region and Zone: The geographical area region refer to the city where Alibaba cloud provides the cloud computing services. Zone refer to, within a Region, the physical data center. Disk: Used to store system and user data. Can be scaled up at any time. Disk Image: Disk Image is the template of a runtime environment for ECS instance, including OS, pre-installed software and related configuration. VPC: VPC is a virtual network in your own logically isolated area within the Alibaba cloud. It provides VLAN-level isolation and blocks outer network communications. Security Group: Security group achieves isolations between different security domains inside VPC. This fits the internal network management needs of applications in government or enterprises. Provision Virtual instance. It’s a 3-step process: 1. 1. Register an Alibaba Cloud Account 2. 2. Configuration ECS according to the requirements 3. 3. Submit & Instance available 1. 1. Register an Alibaba Cloud Account Login to Alibabacloud.com to register an account You can choose either credit card or paypal as a method during registration. Once registered click on console and browse through Base Services | Elastic Compute Services ![]() ![]() Click Instances and select Region and Zone. Select the same Region and zone for resources that will assigned to this instance. ![]() Click on ‘Create Instance’ ![]() Select the billing method and Region with Zone ![]() Select the instance type with family, instance type , CPU and number of instance (in this case I have selected 1) ![]() Select OS Image that need to be configured for the selected instance. ![]() Select the Disk type for system disk. We can add additional Data disk if required. ECS provides an ability to add up to 16 data disks to a single instance. ![]() Add data disk by clicking ‘Add disk’ ![]() Click ‘Next Networking’ to start with network configuration required for selected instance ![]() Select the Network and Network Billing method. ![]() Select Security Group and elastic Network Interface ![]() Click ‘Next: System Configuration’ ![]() ![]() Set the required Login password and other details like Server Name, Host name. ![]() Click ‘Next:Grouping’ ![]() Enter Tag values ![]() Click ‘Next:Preview’ ![]() Select ‘Term of Services’ and review the configuration selected for the instance. ![]() If there are no changes in the configuration selected in previous steps, click ‘Create Instance’ ![]() Message will flash ‘Activated’. Click Console to check the current progress for the instance creation. It takes 3-4 minutes to create instance and available for use. ![]() Check and verify the instance status. Instance in up and running. |
