Alibaba Cloud expands data centre operations in Singapore
Alibaba Cloud - the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group - has expanded its data centre operations in Singapore with the establishment of a second availability zone.
"The expansion of our Singapore data centre enables us to meet the rapidly growing demand for cloud computing resources in Southeast Asia. This expansion also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing one-stop global cloud and big data services to both Chinese and international enterprises. We will continue to grow our coverage worldwide," said Sicheng YU, Vice President of Alibaba Group and General Manager of Alibaba Cloud International.
In a press statement, Alibaba Cloud said the establishment of a second availability zone will provide higher capacity to meet the demands of enterprise users for high availability and disaster recover.
Aside from Singapore data centre, Alibaba Cloud has also established data centres in the United States and Hong Kong. The company also plans to establish data centres in Japan, Europe, Middle East and Australia.
Meanwhile, Alibaba Cloud has also achieved two new certifications overseas: Singapore Multi-Tier Cloud Security (MTCS) standard Level 3 and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) compliance certification for its public cloud services in Singapore and US.
