July 22, 2025, Hangzhou, China - Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, and HP, have announced an expanded collaboration to accelerate the growth of AI PCs in China.

Alibaba Cloud and HP Partner on Qwen-powered Smart Assistant to Drive AI PC Experience
As part of the partnership, Alibaba’s open-source large language model, Qwen (with 3 billion parameters), will be integrated into HP’s smart assistant "Xiaowei Hui" (惠小微/小惠) to elevate the AI PC experience for HP users. The Qwen-powered assistant will offer enhanced capabilities, including smart document drafting, intelligent meeting note summary, and more.
This collaboration marks a major milestone in the partnership between Alibaba Cloud and HP since 2019, underscoring their shared commitment to advancing edge AI and driving innovation in AI PCs. The two companies will also explore cloud-edge synergy optimization and opportunities to expand on-device AI collaboration to more Asia-Pacific markets in the future.
“The signing of this MOU marks a new chapter in the collaboration between HP and Alibaba Cloud to integrate AI with personal computing," noted Tony Chou, Vice President and General Manager, Personal Systems, HP Inc. China. "By combining Alibaba Cloud's powerful cloud computing capabilities with HP's hardware innovation, we will explore broad applications of emerging AI technology and bring more advanced, intelligent, secure, and user-friendly AI PC experiences to users worldwide.”
"The development of AI PCs requires deep collaboration between device manufacturers and cloud service providers. We are thrilled to partner with HP to bring Qwen’s capabilities to the PC market, driving edge AI adoption and elevating consumers experience in this AI PC era,” said Selina Yuan, President of International Business, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.
Since forming their partnership in 2019, HP has adopted Alibaba Cloud’s core products—including elastic computing, database, networking, and storage solutions—to enhance operational efficiency. Powered by Alibaba Cloud’s AI engine, HP also developed an intelligent chatbot to improve customer service. Beyond automated responses, the chatbot can answer calls referencing the background context, analyze customer issues through audio/video recordings, and provide service optimization recommendations.
Qwen has been deployed widely across automotive, smartphone, robotics and home appliance to drive edge AI adoption. Recently, it has enabled advanced AI features for smartphone makers (Honor, Xiaomi), automakers (BMW, FAW Group, NIO, Zeekr), robotics and AR glasses makers (Udeer.AI, Rokid and RayNeo), and home appliance brands like Panasonic.
