【Product Change】Announcement of change for Default Cloud Disk Category Adjustment for ECS RunInstances, DescribePrice and DescribeAvailableResource APIs

Change and Impact
Thank you for your continued support of Alibaba Cloud. The default disk category configuration for the ECS RunInstances, DescribePrice, and DescribeAvailableResource APIs will be upgraded effective January 30, 2026, at 12:00:00 (UTC+8). After the upgrade, the default values for system disks and data disks will be automatically aligned with instance specifications as follows:
- System Disk: For instance types that only support cloud_essd, the default will change from cloud_efficiency to cloud_essd PL0;
- Data Disk: For instance types that support cloud_auto, the default will be set to cloud_auto, with burst enabled by default (which may incur additional charges).
Continuing to use these services with the updated defaults ensures better compatibility and performance, preventing API failures caused by unsupported disk types.
Action required
We recommend that you review your current API calls, as well as Terraform or ROS templates utilizing the RunInstances, DescribePrice, and DescribeAvailableResource APIs, to verify whether the SystemDisk.Category and DataDisk.N.Category parameters are explicitly specified. If these parameters are not set, we strongly advise configuring them before January 30, 2026.
Failure to take action may result in higher data disk costs or unexpected deployment behavior following the upgrade.
