[Product Change] The number of snapshots that can be retained by a single cloud disk is increased

To better support your long-term snapshot management requirements in scenarios such as data backup and recovery, development and test environment cloning, and compliance audit, the Alibaba Cloud ECS snapshot service will increase the number of snapshots that can be retained on a single disk from December 25, 2025. This upgrade will be implemented in batches in each region and is expected to be released in all regions within one month.
The following items and are updated:
- Number of manual snapshots that can be retained for a single disk: increased from 256 to 2000
- Number of automatic snapshots that can be retained for a single disk: increased from 1000 to 2000
Change impact
This quota increase does not automatically create new snapshots. However, more snapshots may be accumulated without awareness due to your existing policies or operating habits. This increases the cost of snapshots. We recommend paying close attention to the snapshot usage and optimize the cost of snapshot usage as needed.
