Description

Under Mozilla's new root certificate trust policy, root certificates used for server identity verification that were issued more than 15 years ago will no longer be trusted. As a result, mainstream browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome will no longer trust root certificates that have been in use for over 15 years. Websites that rely on legacy GlobalSign root certificates (R1/R3/R5/R6) may therefore encounter security warnings or access failures in these browsers, directly impacting user experience and business continuity.

To ensure stronger security and broader compatibility, starting from September 15, 2026, newly issued SSL certificates for SLS will progressively transition to the new root "GlobalSign Root R46."

For clients still relying on the "GlobalSign Root R1" certificate, the updated certificates will maintain backward compatibility with "GlobalSign Root R1" until January 28, 2027. Clients using the "GlobalSign Root R1" certificate must upgrade their local root certificate store before January 28, 2027.

For legacy clients that explicitly trust only GlobalSign Root R3 (or specific intermediate certificates) and whose trust store does not yet include Root R46, SSL certificate verification failures may occur once the server begins issuing certificates signed by the new root on September 15, 2026.

Recommendation

If you are using older client versions or a custom trust store, please verify that your local root certificate list includes "GlobalSign Root R46" and complete the upgrade before January 28, 2027. If you have any related questions, please feel free to contact us at any time by submitting a ticket or calling our service hotline.
