Alibaba Cloud Container Compute Service (ACS) will end maintenance for the Nginx Ingress Controller add-on on November 30, 2026. This change is in response to the retirement of the upstream Ingress NGINX open-source project.
Change details
The Kubernetes SIG Network and the Kubernetes Security Response Committee have officially announced the retirement of the Ingress NGINX project, with a maintenance period lasting until March 2026. After March 2026, the project will no longer release new versions, fix bugs, or provide security patches for newly discovered security vulnerabilities. Because the Nginx Ingress Controller add-on in ACS depends on the continued maintenance of the upstream project and is not covered by a Service-Level Agreement (SLA), ACS will end its maintenance support on November 30, 2026. Until that date, ACS will continue to provide essential support and security patches for critical vulnerabilities.
Impact assessment
For existing users who have deployed the Nginx Ingress Controller via Marketplace, we recommend gradually migrating to one of the suggested alternatives. If you continue to create or use the Nginx Ingress Controller, you must be aware of the following risks, including but not limited to:
● Potential API or functional incompatibilities as Kubernetes versions evolve.
● No new features or performance optimizations will be provided.
● The add-on will no longer receive security patches, exposing it to potential security risks.
Action required
To ensure the long-term stability and security of your services, we recommend that new users adopt, and existing users migrate to, one of the following Ingress solutions:

Other options:
