Invalid domain names and resolution data only in Public Authoritative DNS Resolution Free Edition of Alibaba Cloud DNS will be cleansed. The domain name registration service of Alibaba Cloud is not affected.

Effective time

From 00:00:00 on November 16, 2024 (UTC+8), the system will start to identify invalid domain names and resolution data.

From 00:00:00 on December 16, 2024 (UTC+8), the system will start to delete invalid domain names and resolution data.

Notice content

To enhance the security of domain name resolutions and prevent domain name conflicts caused by malicious use of domain name resolution resources, Public Authoritative DNS Resolution Free Edition of Alibaba Cloud DNS will start to identify invalid domain names and resolution data from 00:00:00 on November 16, 2024 ( UTC+8) and delete invalid domain names and resolution data from 00:00:00 on December 16, 2024 (UTC+8).

1. Domain names and resolution data that are considered invalid for 30 consecutive calendar days are deleted.

Domain names and resolution data that meet the following two conditions are considered invalid:

a. The domain name is registered with a third-party domain name registrar and resolved in Public Authoritative DNS Resolution of Alibaba Cloud DNS.

b. The DNS server address of the domain name is not mapped to the server address of Public Authoritative DNS Resolution of Alibaba Cloud DNS.

We continuously monitor the DNS server address configurations of your domain name. On the 1st, 10th, and 20th day of the duration during which your domain name and resolution data are continuously identified as invalid, the system will remind you to configure a correct DNS server address for your domain name by sending emails and/or messages. This prevents your domain name and resolution data from being accidentally deleted. You can subscribe to Alibaba Cloud DNS Operation Notifications and Alibaba Cloud DNS High Risk Notification on the Common Settings page in the Message Center console.

2. If you want to retain these domain names and resolution records within your Alibaba Cloud account, you must perform the following configurations before the system deletes the data:

After you configure the domain name resolution data in Alibaba Cloud DNS, set the DNS server address of your domain name to the DNS server address assigned by Alibaba Cloud DNS at the registrar of the domain name. >> Procedure

The deletion of invalid domain names and resolution data does not affect the resolution of these domain names at third-party registrars, the running of your website or service, or the use of domain names that are registered with Alibaba Cloud.
