To improve product consistency, ApsaraDB RDS will soon adjust the baseline performance of Premium ESSDs. Please find the details below:

Effective Date​: August 22, 2025, 00:00 (GMT+8, Singapore Time)

Affected Products: ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL, ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL

Adjustment Focus: Baseline Performance of Premium ESSDs

Impact Details:

• Existing Instances: Current ApsaraDB RDS instances using Premium ESSDs will not be affected and will retain their existing performance configurations.
• New Instances: The new baseline performance aligns with that of PL1 ESSDs and is automatically adopted by the Premium ESSDs of ApsaraDB RDS instances that are purchased or whose storage type is changed to Premium ESSD after the effective date (August 22, 2025, Singapore Time).

Key Notes:

• Baseline Performance Calculation: The baseline performance of both Premium ESSDs and PL1 ESSDs scales with storage capacity. For specific calculation rules, refer to the ESSDs Documentation.
• Solution for I/O-sensitive Scenarios: If your workload demands higher I/O performance, consider upgrading your instance storage type to PL2 or PL3 ESSD for greater throughput.
• Solution for Workload Fluctuations: For frequently fluctuating workloads, especially those with sudden spikes (e.g., heavy queries or bulk writes), we recommend using the I/O Performance Burst feature of Premium ESSDs. For more information, refer to the following documentation:
