Announcement on Windows Server 2025+AMD instance start failure after updating patch KB5060842
Jun 17, 2025
Elastic Compute ServiceBackground and temporary solution
On June 16, 2025, Alibaba Cloud discovered that AMD-specification instances created using Windows Server 2025 images will encounter a blue screen problem when the system is restarted after installing Microsoft's June cumulative update patch KB5060842.
If you have installed the patch and encounter a blue screen problem, it is recommended to take the following temporary solutions:
● Roll back the cloud disk through an existing snapshot to quickly restore business. After the business is restored, do not install the patch KB5060842, or change the instance specification to Intel specifications (see the document for all specification families).
If there is no available snapshot, please submit a work order to Alibaba Cloud.
If you have not installed the patch yet, do not install it yet. At present, the WSUS service officially provided by Alibaba Cloud has removed the patch KB5060842 to prevent users from downloading the patch.
