VPC has completely removed the binding restrictions between advanced features and ECS instance types. Users can now use advanced features like custom route tables, network ACLs, and IPv4 gateways on-demand. Previously, the presence of certain ECS instance types within a VPC would prevent the use of these advanced features. This hindered the implementation of flexible network topologies and fine-grained security controls. With this update, users can purchase any ECS instance type and use VPC advanced features. This preserves the flexibility to choose cost-effective resources while enabling advanced features to meet business needs for complex network architectures and fine-grained security control.
