The cross-region backup feature is supported for RDS instances for which cloud disk encryption is enabled. When you restore the data of an RDS instance from an existing backup file to a new RDS instance that resides in a different region than the source region, take note of the following items: If the original RDS instance uses the physical backup method, you can determine whether to enable cloud disk encryption for the new RDS instance. If the original RDS instance uses the snapshot backup method, cloud disk encryption is automatically enabled for the new RDS instance.
