Features released: Preemptible instances allow you to bid for spare Elastic Compute Service (ECS) capacity and help significantly reduce ECS costs. Alibaba Cloud sets a price for each instance type in each zone. The spot price of a preemptible instance fluctuates based on changes in supply and demand for the instance type. The spot price ranges from 10% of the pay-as-you-go price to the pay-as-you-go price. If your bid price is equal to or higher than the spot price at the time of purchase, a preemptible instance can be created. If your bid price is lower than the spot price, the bid fails and the preemptible instance cannot be created. Customers can specify an acceptable maximum price or select the automatic bid method based on the price fluctuations of each instance type to purchase preemptible instances at a favorable price. ECS determines whether to stop and release the instances based on the price or resource supply of the instance types.
