About TMall

Tmall and Tmall Global is one of Alibaba's signature e-commerce platforms. For many international brands seeking to break into the China market Tmall is usually their first stop. Today, Tmall, is not only redefining retail in China but is showing the world that brick and mortar and online retailers can work in concert with each other to create better business and new experiences for consumers. This new strategy is called "New Retail." Under the banner of "New Retail," Tmall is at the forefront of answering three critical questions about how to help brands form online and offline connectivity and interaction? How to bring consumers the ideal lifestyle and experience? And how to act as a pedestal for Alibaba Group’s new retail strategy? To provide a definite answer to all three questions, Tmall relies on technology and innovation to help power both online and offline commerce. In the background, and as an essential piece of Tmall and the New Retail puzzle, is Alibaba Cloud.

Deployment

Alibaba Cloud provides high-performance, highly-stable, highly-scalable, and secure IT infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted global service for platforms such as Tmall. Alibaba Cloud not only offers a secure IT platform for Tmall but also provides the same infrastructure and services for brands doing business on Tmall. This is especially evident on China's Double 11 International Shopping festival. During Double 11 peaks, Alibaba Cloud’s system processed 325 thousand orders per a second which generated over 25 billion USD in 24 hours just last year. Using Alibaba Cloud, Tmall delivers a data middleware that helps businesses track consumer data, tailor recommender systems, and create customizable customer service chatbots that help brands relate to the customer in every phase of his or her journey. Tmall is not only supplying its customers with an e-commerce platform but also robust cloud infrastructure, which in turn helps improve operating efficiency such as order processing. Alongside increased business efficiency enabled by the cloud, Tmall is also a perfect example of how technology can be incorporated into the cloud to offer a new shopping experience. Currently, Tmall is researching and developing ways to combine VR and AR technology to provide a whole new way of shopping. Just imagine, an interactive mirror at your local mall or virtually shopping at your favorite retailer through a pair of VR goggles. While this might seem like a fantasy, for many brands in China it is virtually a reality.
