Conversant is a Singapore based technology company that works closely together with its subsidiary, SwiftServe Pte Ltd, to offer a range of digital services. Conversant and SwiftServe focus on developing innovative digital media enablement solutions and services for telecommunication service providers, content providers, media broadcasters and other enterprises. Conversant has a team of over 100 people, as well as development centers in Cambridge and Shanghai, and regional offices in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Conversant has entered a joint partnership with Alibaba Cloud to provide joint services.

At Conversant we needed to embrace new ways to outperform competitors on behalf of our customer TV5. TV5 is a major Filipino commercial television network based in Mandaluyong City, the Philippines. TV5 had been using Conversant’s CDN solution since 2014 and we wanted to convert TV5 from Amazon to a new cloud provider to improve performance. However the challenge was that TV5 still expected our price, quality of solution and value to be as good as Amazon or even better.

Pricing and support was a critical consideration for TV5 to switch to Alibaba Cloud computing services and to continue using Conversant CDN Services. We assigned our in-country team to provide personalized customer service to offer customized solutions according to their requirements, and Alibaba Cloud were also great through this process in communicating with the team. Ken and Leon from Alibaba Cloud were particularly very helpful in answering queries from TV5 even after 5pm.

With our servers deployed in Hong Kong, our recent latency testing shows that the Alibaba Cloud platform provides better results than Amazon. The latency tests, done internally by Conversant and Alibaba Cloud, found AWS responding in 346ms and Alibaba Cloud in 96ms. Alibaba Cloud also has a wide range of cloud infrastructure products too that fit with TV5’s requirements and it has been easy for us to expand elastic computing services and scale on behalf of our customer.
