How to Join?

Please follow the steps below to register for the hackathon.

Create an Alibaba Cloud Account

A valid Alibaba Cloud account is required to activate required Alibaba Cloud products, and to receive Alibaba Cloud credits for the hackathon.

Please make sure you have registered with the Alibaba Cloud you will use for the hackathon before March 6th at 14:00.

Form/join a Team On-site

All teams should be formed on-site by March 7th at 12:00.

Coding and Submission

Complete your project submit your entry by March at 12:00 8th.

Enrollment Rules and FAQ:

Participants must have signed up for an Alibaba Cloud account to register for the hackathon. And in order to activate Alibaba Cloud services, participants must add a payment method.
Please register for the hackathon with the Alibaba Cloud account you will use in the hackathon. You will receive Alibaba Cloud credits for the hackathon on March 7 with the account you register for the hackathon.
Contestants can compete either individually or on a team of up to 5 members. The members of the team cannot be changed after March 7 at 12:00. The cash prize will be only given to one participate for each winning team and cannot be separated.
A qualified submission must use required Alibaba Cloud services.
Members of Alibaba Group can participate in the contest, but are excluded from the prizes.

Task & Judging Criteria

Key Task

Use Alibaba Cloud services, including PAI, AnalyticDB and other required products, to build AI-based applications.

Build AI-Based Applications

The applications developed should harness the power of AI to address real-world problems or create new opportunities. This involves identifying a problem area or market need that can benefit from AI, conceptualizing a solution, and then building a functional AI application using Alibaba Cloud's ecosystem. The application should demonstrate a clear use case, practicality, and the potential for commercial or social impact.

Utilize Alibaba Cloud Services

Participants are tasked with creating AI-based applications using a suite of Alibaba Cloud services. The core of the task involves leveraging Alibaba Cloud's Platform for AI (PAI), which offers machine learning and data processing capabilities. Hackathon projects must integrate PAI to deploy AI models that are central to their applications. Additionally, the use of AnalyticDB, Alibaba Cloud's high-performance database, is required for managing large datasets with real-time analytics.

Judging Criteria

All the projects submitted will be reviewed by judges on-site on 8th March with the criteria below.

Technical Implementation

It evaluates the technical excellence of the solution, with a special emphasis on AI integration, and the quality and efficiency of the AI implementation. The use of AI should enhance the solution's capabilities, demonstrating innovation and effective problem-solving. The assessment will look for robustness, scalability, and adherence to AI best practices.

Commercial or Social Value

It assesses the project's potential impact on the market or society. For commercial value, it gauges the project's marketability, including its potential user base, revenue model, and scalability. Social value examines the project's capacity to address social issues, contribute to the public good, or improve quality of life.

Innovation and Creativity

It focus on the originality and imaginative aspects of the solution, and looks for novel ideas and approaches, evaluating the project's ability to introduce new concepts or propose unique solutions to existing challenges. The inventive use of technology, the originality of the design, and the project's capacity to stand out from conventional solutions are key components.

Usage of Alibaba Cloud products

It evaluates the integration and use of Alibaba Cloud products within the project, particularly PAI, AnalyticDB and other recommended services. Projects are expected to demonstrate the use of Alibaba Cloud's services, taking advantage of their specific features to optimize the solution, and showcasing the benefits of incorporating these products into the technological stack.
