How to Join?

Please follow the steps below to register for the hackathon.

Create an Alibaba Cloud Account

A valid Alibaba Cloud account is required to activate required Alibaba Cloud products, and to receive Alibaba Cloud credits for the hackathon.

Please make sure you have complate the registration form with the Alibaba Cloud you will use for the hackathon before Aug 17th at 23:59.

Join the Briefing

We will have briefing session (online) for all the participants, followed with the reverse pitching from our partners so you can start thinking on the solutions that you want to build onsite

Coding and Submission

Complete your project and submit your presentation by Sept 1, 12:00

Enrollment Rules and FAQ:

Participants must have signed up for an Alibaba Cloud account to register for the hackathon. And in order to activate Alibaba Cloud services, participants must add a payment method (during the hackathon, we will provide some credits for you to use our services)
Please register for the hackathon with the Alibaba Cloud account you will use in the hackathon. You will receive Alibaba Cloud credits for the hackathon on Aug 31 with the account you registered for the hackathon.
Contestants can compete individually or in teams of up to 4 members. Team members cannot be changed after August 31 at 12:00. The cash prize will be awarded to one representative from each winning team and cannot be divided. For the first-place team, the Hangzhou trip will cover only up to 2 team members.
A qualified submission must use required Alibaba Cloud services.
Members of Alibaba Group can participate in the contest, but are excluded from the prizes.

Key Task

Develop solutions to address the listed key problems using Alibaba Cloud services, including Model Studio, PAI, AnalyticDB, and other necessary products, to build AI-based applications.

Utilize Alibaba Cloud Services & Develop AI Based Application

Participants are tasked with creating AI-based applications to address real-world problems or create new opportunities using Alibaba Cloud services. They must identify a problem area or market need, conceptualize a solution, and build a functional application demonstrating clear use cases and potential impacts. The core task involves leveraging Alibaba Cloud's Model Studio or Platform for AI (PAI) for machine learning and data processing, and using AnalyticDB for managing large datasets with real-time analytics.

Judging Criteria

All the projects submitted will be reviewed by judges on-site on 1st September with the criteria below.

Innovation and Creativity

Focuses on the originality and imaginative aspects of the solution, evaluating ideas and unique approaches to existing challenges. Key components include the inventive use of technology, originality of design, and the ability to stand out from conventional solutions.

Technical Implementation

Emphasizes technical excellence with a focus on AI integration, assessing the quality and efficiency of AI implementation. Evaluates robustness, scalability, and adherence to AI best practices. Considers the integration of Alibaba Cloud products like Model Studio, PAI, AnalyticDB, and other recommended services, leveraging their features to optimize the solution.

Impact

Assesses the project's potential impact on the market or society. For commercial value, evaluates marketability, user base potential, revenue model, and scalability. For social value, examines the project's capacity to address social issues, contribute to public good, or improve quality of life.

Presentation and Pitch

Evaluates the effectiveness of the team's pitch to the judges.
