How to Join?
Please follow the steps below to register for the hackathon.
Create an Alibaba Cloud Account
A valid Alibaba Cloud account is required to activate required Alibaba Cloud products, and to receive Alibaba Cloud credits for the hackathon.
Register for the Hackathon
Please make sure you have complate the registration form with the Alibaba Cloud you will use for the hackathon before the closing date.
Join the Briefing
We will have briefing session (online) for all the participants before the onsite session
Coding and Submission
Complete your project and submit your presentation on time
Enrollment Rules and FAQ:
- Participants must have signed up for an Alibaba Cloud account to register for the hackathon. And in order to activate Alibaba Cloud services, participants must add a payment method (during the hackathon, we will provide some credits for you to use our services)
- Please register for the hackathon with the Alibaba Cloud account you will use in the hackathon. You will receive Alibaba Cloud credits for the hackathon nearer the hackathon date with the account you registered for the hackathon.
- Contestants can compete individually or in teams of up to 4 members. The cash prize will be transferred to one representative from each winning team.
- A qualified submission must use required Alibaba Cloud AI services and deployed in Alibaba Cloud. Any violation of rules can lead to disqualification.
- Members of Alibaba Group can participate in the contest, but are excluded from the prizes.
Task & Judging Criteria
Key Task
Participants in the Alibaba Cloud Singapore AI Hackathon 2025 will focus on identifying real-world problems and crafting innovative AI-powered solutions using Alibaba Cloud tools. Key tasks include leveraging Model Studio (API) , Platform for AI (PAI) , and Elastic Compute Service (ECS) to build and optimize applications, while integrating proprietary models like Qwen (LLM) and WAN (Visual Generation Model) . Teams must ensure their solutions are practical, scalable, and impactful, demonstrating technical excellence and adherence to AI best practices throughout the process.
Build AI-Based Applications
- The applications developed should harness the power of AI to address real-world problems or create new opportunities. This involves identifying a problem area or market need that can benefit from AI, conceptualizing a solution, and then building a functional AI application using Alibaba Cloud's ecosystem. The application should demonstrate a clear use case, practicality, and the potential for commercial or social impact.
Utilize Alibaba Cloud Services & Develop AI Based Application
- Participants are required to develop AI-powered applications that address real-world problems or create new opportunities using Alibaba Cloud’s ecosystem. They must identify a specific problem area or market need, conceptualize an innovative solution, and build a functional application demonstrating clear use cases and potential impact. The core task involves leveraging Model Studio (API) for AI model integration, Platform for AI (PAI) for training and deployment, and Elastic Compute Service (ECS) for hosting. Participants must integrate Alibaba Cloud’s proprietary models, such as Qwen (LLM) for natural language processing and WAN (Visual Generation Model) for visual applications, to optimize their solutions and showcase technical excellence.
Judging Criteria
All the projects submitted will be reviewed by judges on-site on 11 April with the criteria below.
Innovation and Creativity

Focuses on the originality and imaginative aspects of the solution, evaluating ideas and unique approaches to existing challenges. Key components include the inventive use of technology, originality of design, and the ability to stand out from conventional solutions.
Technical Implementation

Solutions must demonstrate robustness, scalability , and adherence to AI best practices like ethical design and data security. Participants must leverage Alibaba Cloud tools such as Model Studio (API) , Platform for AI (PAI) , and Elastic Compute Service (ECS) , with a focus on innovative use of Qwen (LLM) and WAN (Visual Generation Model) to address real-world challenges effectively.
Impact

Assesses the project's potential impact on the market or society. For commercial value, evaluates marketability, user base potential, revenue model, and scalability. For social value, examines the project's capacity to address social issues, contribute to public good, or improve quality of life.

Unfortunately, there will be no travel support for participants in this hackathon. All participants are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel and accommodation costs to attend the event in Singapore.

Yes, meals and refreshments will be provided for all participants throughout the hackathon.

Is this an overnight hackathon?
No, this is not an overnight hackathon. The venue will remain open until approximately 7:00 PM each day. However, participants are welcome to continue working on their projects independently after the venue closes.
