Chainbase is the world's largest omnichain data network designed to integrate all blockchain data into a unified ecosystem, providing an open and transparent data interoperability layer for the Al era.

Chainbase attracts more than 15,000 developers and data scientists, and the ８,000 applications built on it form a vibrant ecosystem. People can now freely access and train data models to integrate predictions, analytics and insights into their applications.

Recent rapid growth has seen Chainbase need more exposure and computing resources to fuel its progress. To do this, it migrated its blockchain data platform to Alibaba Cloud to improve service speed at a lower cost, allowing it to reinvest in its dramatic business growth.

Chainbase’s previous partner was chosen to host its Web3 data platform as its US data centres were cost effective at the time, allowing a flexible, quick start for Chainbase as it established itself.

However, due to rapid growth Chainbase saw the need to improve efficiency and computing resources to help it progress faster. Its existing cloud resources with the previous partner were taking up a significant portion of operating expenses, stealing vital resources from growth opportunities.

Chainbase was therefore looking for a highly stable, secure and cost effective cloud partner that could host its Web3 data platform during this period of high-speed expansion and beyond. Crucially, with over 200TB of data to transfer, migration required a partner to act quickly, without disruption.

Alibaba Cloud was chosen as a partner by Chainbase as it offered both the cost effectiveness and robustness required to support this major platform migration, all without downtime. The flexibility and support offered to Chainbase was second to none, allowing vital resources to be diverted into the main goal: growth.

With a key concern being the complexity of the migration process, Alibaba Cloud demonstrated the expertise to meet the challenge - with always-on technical support when required.

Crucially, Alibaba Cloud’s diverse range of services were enticing to Chainbase, who recognised the longer term partnership opportunity of co-building the infrastructure for the Web3 and AI era.

Alibaba Cloud migrated Chainbase’s Web3 data platform to Alibaba Cloud Singapore which now supports the entire business ecosystem with its Blockchain Node Service (BNS), Cloud Data Transfer, Data Lake Formation, customer API, Web3 API and data synchronization solutions.

To do this, Alibaba Cloud implemented stable and secure infrastructures, including Container Service for Kubernetes (ACK) to host the node services, ApsaraMQ for Kafka and Realtime Compute for Apache Flink to handle real-time data tasks, Hadoop Distributed File System and E-MapReduce to provide the big data foundation, and ApsaraDB for ClickHouse, PolarDB and ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL to store structured data. These cloud-native solutions replaced existing self-built open-source architecture in the previous cloud partner, increasing Chainbase’s adhesiveness.

Despite the complexity of the migration, the process took only a month to complete, and was achieved without downtime or disruption. To do this, Alibaba Cloud maintained speed through using multiple VPNs and internal networks to improve transmission efficiency. Its expert team also provided round the clock technical support, guaranteeing business stability.

Following the migration to Alibaba Cloud, Chainbase enjoyed a 50% reduction in infrastructure costs, all while maintaining stability and security. This allowed Chainbase to focus its internal resources towards product development and refinement much faster than would have been possible with a slower or more expensive migrations

As the partnership grows, Alibaba Cloud will continue supporting Chainbase’s rapid growth.

Chainbase will be launching a plan to go fully decentralized in the second half of the year, and more broadly collaborate with the developer community to build an omnichain data network and an AI-driven Crypto World Model. Alibaba Cloud will support these initiatives at the resource level by providing more storage IO and GPU computing power, and Chainbase also hopes to leverage Alibaba Cloud's community resources to accelerate the development of network and AI model components.

Fundamentally, the partnership will provide security, stability and efficiency for Chainbase to grow its operations. Together, with Alibaba Cloud, it will continue to forge the Data and AI future.
