My Story: Alibaba Cloud MVP Harpreet Singh

What is it like to be an Alibaba Cloud MVP? India MVP, Harpreet Singh, shares his career aspirations and explains how Alibaba Cloud has helped him innovate in the medical field.

When I started my career in 2014, I never thought I would be an MVP for Alibaba Cloud, but here I am now. My journey began with very humble beginnings. I started my career with a Masters from Chandigarh Group of Colleges, where I worked as a teaching assistant under India's Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) and later with a Doctorate from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, which is one of the top ranking engineering institutes in India. I always wanted to be at the forefront of medical research, specifically by using my knowledge to improve the technology used in these field. I learned that the most effective way to do this was with machine learning.

However, I was held back by the massive hardware requirements for proceeding with the research. At the time, I was unaware of the cloud services provided by Alibaba Cloud. But, after some online research, I discovered Alibaba Cloud, and since then I have never looked back. I, along with many other researchers did a test-run of our work on Alibaba Cloud's free trial of the cloud services, which helped us to understand the feasibility of our research first hand. This also helped me to set up my profile and get recognized, which helped me be a part of several research advancements, having published several different patents. These experiences changed my life and help me be where I am today.

The technological advancements and innovations of the medical world have always interested me. Over the past years, I have filed several patents and have been involved in several research projects in this field. One of my patent ideas: Queen Belt got shortlisted among the top 10 female lead tech startups as one of the finalists from India in the Canada-India Acceleration Program (CIAP-2018). For some background knowledge, this programme was formulated as part of the MoU signed between AICTE and Carleton University to support and promote international collaborations between India and Canada, while designing collaborative programs in the area of start-up and innovation development in technical institutes and higher education in India.

Proceeding these pleasant experiences, I wrote about the Cloud services offered by Alibaba Cloud. You can read what I wrote through this link. In my post, I mentioned how their systems have best-in-class integration and full-fledged algorithm-based systems, among other things. These factors were explained in brief in this article and their advantages over other system integrators. Also, the fact that a free trial is available has been of great help.

Currently I am working on some research projects, which are based on Machine Learning, that help with the pre-clinical testing of drug synergy by speeding up the procedure. Alibaba Cloud's cloud systems helped in proceeding with these projects. I progressed to do research on several other areas in medicine. My ongoing projects include the epi-alert, which deals with prediction Epilepsy Fits. I want to dedicate my life towards the betterment of people's life. I always work on the mantra, "Everybody deserves a chance, the second is up to their consciousness". And I will always try my best to provide everybody with that chance.
