Deploying A Data Warehouse on Alibaba Cloud

This article explains how to deploy a data warehouse on Alibaba Cloud using AnalyticDB for MySQL service.

Introduction

A data warehouse is a data processing and management system used to analyze and visualize large amounts of data from multiple sources to support business intelligence.

Data warehouses require many computing and memory resources to process data efficiently. Alibaba Cloud provides multiple options to deploy a data warehouse according to your business and application requirements such as, AnalyticDB for MySQL, AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, ApsaraDB for Clickhouse, and Data Lake Analytics.

Creating an AnalyticDB for MySQL Data Warehouse Instance

The following steps demonstrate how to create an AnalyticDB for MySQL instance in Alibaba Cloud:

  • Step 1: In the Alibaba Cloud console, access the ADB for MySQL service under the Data Warehouses section:

  • Step 2: Select Clusters and click Create Cluster:

  • Step 3: Select the region of your instance location and the VPC:

  • Step 4: Select the Computing Resource specifications according to your data warehouse requirements and click Buy Now:

  • Step 5: Accept the Terms of Service and click Activate Now:

Step 6: After cluster creation, select your cluster instance, select the Accounts blade, and click Create Privileged Account:

  • Step 7: Give the account a name and a strong password, and click OK:

  • Step 8: Click Log On to Database. This will load the Alibaba Cloud DMS service:

  • Step 9: Finally, you can start managing your Alibaba Cloud data warehouse using the Data Management Service (DMS):
