Cloud Native Game Solution | Implementing PvP Session Based Games with OpenKruiseGame

The third episode of cloud native game solution series explore the implementation of cloud-native transformation for PvP session-based games based on OKG.

Session-based PvP games often have characteristics such as non-continuous game time, distinct start-stop time points, and high latency requirements.

In light of this, what functionalities should a cloud-native architecture for session-based games be able to achieve? And how can OpenKruise Game facilitate the containerization of such games?

Welcome to Cloud Forward, where we go back to basics and talk about everything cloud-centric, from Infrastructure, Computing, Storage, Network, Security, to Database, AI, and Machine Learning.

In this series, we will talk about OpenKruise Game. Alibaba Cloud launched the project as a Kubernetes abstraction for best practices for gaming containers.

Watch the videos below for a comprehensive understanding.

OpenKruiseGame (OKG) is a multicloud-oriented, open-source Kubernetes workload specialized for game servers. OKG simplifies the cloud-native transformation of game servers as a custom Kubernetes workload. Compared to built-in Kubernetes workloads like Deployment and StatefulSet, OKG provides common game server management features such as hot updates, in-place upgrades, and directed management.
