It Is Necessary for Technology Enterprises to Develop from a Tech-Based to Service-Based Business

On September 17, the 2020 Apsara Conference was held solely online for the first time. 1,300 honored guests, 82 top scholars, and 303 business managers attended the conference, while over 10,000 software developers participated in the conference through online programming.

Li Jin, Vice President of Alibaba Group and General Manager of the Alibaba Cloud Intelligent Global Technical Services Department, proposed an idea at the Technical Service Sub-forum. "It is necessary for all technology enterprises to develop from tech-based to product-based, and then to service-based. Today, services have become a new engine of Alibaba Cloud in addition to technology."

Li Jin said that Alibaba Cloud would work with customers and partners to create brand new service capabilities. Firstly, Alibaba Cloud provides customers with full-cycle symbiotic services, covering consultation planning in the early stages of cloud migration, deployment and delivery of cloud migration, focused maintenance of key business, and operation upgrading developed along with business growth. These services can provide end-to-end protection for customers' businesses. Secondly, combined with the technological innovation capabilities of DAMO Academy, Alibaba Cloud provides cloud-native and data intelligence solutions for multiple fields, such as government affairs, retail, finance, and manufacturing to help meet the best practices of customers' businesses. Lastly, based on next-generation digital infrastructure and intelligent engines of various industries, Alibaba Cloud works with different ecological partners to complement each other and achieve a win-win situation.

So far, Alibaba Cloud has provided over 300 professional full-lifecycle services for customers from over 80 countries and 30 sub-sectors. Alibaba Cloud has also jointly launched over 500 sets of solutions with its customers and partners, providing complete solutions covering the early stages of cloud migration to follow-up optimization.

As digital transformation takes root in more enterprises, industrial applications are developing in an explosive manner. Cloud computing and cloud-native are becoming the most popular words in digital transformation.

By 2023, it is estimated that more than 500 million digital applications and services will be developed and deployed cloud-natively worldwide. The figure will reach the total number of applications developed over the past 40 years. At the same time, over 50% of all Information and Communication Technology (ICT) spending will be spent on digital transformation and innovation.

In 2019, 43% of work has been done on the cloud, and this proportion is still growing. Behind this are the cloud-based, Internet-enabling, and digital products that are intellectually transforming the industry.

The best young people of this era are experiencing and promoting the change with us. According to statistics, 79% of engineers in China's Internet industry in 2019 were from the post-90s and post-00s generations. The future will eventually belong to these young people.

Next, I'd like to share some figures from Alibaba Cloud.

The first one is 80%. 80% of China's science and technology enterprises are using Alibaba Cloud's services.

The second one is 170,000. Today, Alibaba Cloud certifications cover various technical fields, such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence. Currently, more than 170,000 certificates have been issued.

The third one is 10,000. Over 10,000 technical service experts from Alibaba Cloud and its partners are providing our mutual customers with services that are best suited to their development and businesses.

The last one is 50. In the past year, more than 50 service partners achieved annual revenues of over 0.1 billion yuan among partners that have in-depth cooperation with Alibaba Cloud.

The technical services provided by Alibaba Cloud and its partners have become the common core competitiveness and a new burst point for business growth.

The idea of service as enterprises' core competitiveness has long been proposed and many enterprises have experienced this process. Therefore, it is necessary for all enterprises to develop from tech-based to product-based, and then to service-based. Today, services have become a new engine of Alibaba Cloud in addition to technology.

In the past years, Alibaba Cloud has been trying to turn technical products into services and combine technology with services to jointly promote the "restructuring of a digital and intelligent future in full speed" with its partners.

Second, based on the best practices accumulated from the delivery of nearly 10,000 projects, Alibaba Cloud has a full range of business scenarios and rich delivery experience. Combined with the technological innovation capabilities of DAMO Academy, Alibaba Cloud provides cloud-native and data intelligence solutions for various fields, such as government affairs, retail, finance, and manufacturing, which can help deliver the best practices for customers' business.
Finally, based on the next-generation digital infrastructure and intelligence engines in various industries, Alibaba Cloud has developed a variety of intelligent innovative applications together with ecosystem partners. These applications help Alibaba Cloud and ecosystem partners complement each other.
