Gartner predicts that by 2020, 90 percent of organizations will adopt hybrid cloud as part of their IT infrastructure. Well anchored in this industry, Alibaba Cloud, ranked as one of the top three cloud service providers in the world and the number one provider in Asia Pacific, is a leader in this new wave of hybrid cloud networking development.
Last year, as an initiative to facilitate more customers to migrate to the cloud, Alibaba Cloud launched Smart Access Gateway (SAG), as an end-to-end cloud deployment solution for connecting hardware and software to the cloud, making Alibaba Cloud the first major cloud provider to step into the SDWAN market. SAG works by providing immediate data migration to Alibaba Cloud once after the physical SAG device are powered on. All of this can help make data migration from an enterprise's on-premises data centers, branches, or stores that much simpler and immediate. As of now, Alibaba Cloud already has a large customers base raining from several different industries including new retail, manufacturing, and finance using this technology.
On September 26, during Apsara Conference 2019, Alibaba Cloud launched Hybrid Cloud Network 2.0. Being the first upgrade of its kind, Hybrid Cloud Network 2.0 in a massive improvement over previous generations as it provides end-to-end services while also achieving complete cloud and network integration. At the same time, Alibaba Cloud has leveraged SAG along with Alibaba's own Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) product suite to build an integrated, hybrid network for both on-cloud and on-premises data. With this solution, a services availability of 99.95% can be achieved for hybrid cloud systems, and the overall costs of migrating data to the cloud for these systems can be reduced by more than 50%.
At Apsara Conference 2019, Alibaba Cloud unveiled two all-new hybrid cloud network products: SAG-ECC and SAG-APP. The first of the two, SAG-ECC (Express Cloud Connect) is ideal for migrating on-premises data to the cloud. It leverages the hardware capabilities of SAG, along with IPSec and leased lines to provide quick cloud migration services with high availability and low latency, which can also meet the necessary regulatory requirements. SAG-ECC also automates configuration management and end-to-end monitoring. The second product unveiled, SAG-APP provides SDKs that for easy access to networks from multiple devices, including both computers and smart phones, with virtually any device running Windows, Linux, MacOS, iOS, or Android compatible. In many ways, the release of these two products marks the beginning of a new hybrid cloud era given all the advancements that Hybrid Cloud Network 2.0 can provide.
Alibaba Cloud also unveiled upgrades to other hybrid cloud network products. For example, a new upgrade to SAG-CCN (Cloud Connect Network) will support features such as the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Quality-of-Service (QoS), cloud service access, and optimization of unstable networks, and it now can implement a full-mesh network. SAG-CCN is ideal for such real-world scenarios as backing up on-premises data, migrating branch data to the cloud, and connecting multiple branches.
Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) has also been upgraded to support features such as routing policies and Flow Logs. As of now, CEN is available in 20 regions around the world and is ideal for the type of cross-region cloud service connections that globally-minded enterprises require. CEN maintains full regulation compliance, link redundancy, and convergence in seconds, along with 99.95% availability. VPN Gateway supports active/standby link redundancy and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE).
At present, Alibaba Cloud is at the cutting edge of the hybrid cloud revolution. With the upgrade to Hybrid Cloud Network 2.0, further enhancements in hybrid cloud networking has been achieved by Alibaba Cloud. This upgrade provides an end-to-end, cloud-network integrated service solution to assist enterprises to migrating their IT infrastructure and data centers to the cloud even more smoothly and easily.
