As outlined by the MongoDB Software Lifecycle Schedules (https://www.mongodb.com/legal/support-policy/lifecycles), MongoDB Inc. has declared the end-of-life (EoL) for MongoDB version 4.0 as of April 30, 2022. No maintenance updates have been offered for this version and earlier ones since then, users who continues to run on this version would expose themselves to potential risks if continuing to run on MongoDB version 4.0. To provide more secure products with better experience, Alibaba Cloud will no longer offer ApsaraDB for MongoDB version 4.0 starting from January 1, 2025, Singapore time. We urge users to upgrade to later MongoDB versions promptly. Below is the detailed schedule:
Affected Product: ApsaraDB for MongoDB version 4.0
End-of-Sale Date: January 1, 2025 (GMT+8)
Impacts:
1. As of the end-of-sale date, all instance types of ApsaraDB for MongoDB version 4.0 with subscription or pay-as-you-go billing method, including Standalone, ReplicaSet, and Sharded Cluster will no longer be available for sale;
2. As of the end-of-sale date, existing instances of ApsaraDB for MongoDB version 4.0 could no longer support clone or rebuilt;
3. Existing instances of ApsaraDB for MongoDB version 4.0 will continue to support functions such as renewal and configuration changes for the time being. We will provide detailed schedules regarding when these features will be affected in the upcoming End-of-Life plan.

● If you're running instances of ApsaraDB for MongoDB version 4.0, it's advisable to upgrade to a more recent MongoDB major version to avoid potential security vulnerabilities and other issues.
