These include fully automated synthetic data generation spanning the entire training pipeline, large-scale continual pre-training on agentic interaction data to progressively expand the model’s capabilities, and end-to-end reinforcement learning using a strictly on-policy approach to ensure precise behavioral optimization.

The model also supports different inference modes to accommodate diverse operational needs. Its native ReAct Mode is designed for rigorously evaluating the model’s core agentic abilities, while Heavy Mode employs context-aware, test-time scaling strategies to unlock the model’s maximum performance potential.

Tongyi DeepResearch is already deployed in real-world applications in Alibaba. It powers the generation of detailed, personalized travel itineraries on Amap, Alibaba’s location-based services platform, and supports Tongyi Farui, Alibaba’s in-house legal AI agent, enabling it to autonomously execute complex, multi-step legal research tasks while delivering conclusions grounded in verifiable judicial sources.
